ESPORTS AT
CHITTENANGO MIDDLE SCHOOL

Why Esports?

  • Competitive gaming, including esports teams, are co-ed, inclusive, and engage students who might not otherwise participate in school athletics or activities.

  • Students build character and develop discipline, self-esteem, and sportsmanship through practice and gameplay.

  • An esports team is a great way to build community during the COVID-19 pandemic, while following the NYS reopening guidelines.

  • Due to this being able to take place at home, it is an ideal activity since in-person after school clubs are being suspended for safety reasons. This club also could bring together both in-person and remote learners who otherwise might not see each other.

  • Esports players are often interested in STEM classes and programs. A high percentage of collegiate esports players select STEM majors.

  • Over 200 colleges and universities offer esports scholarships and are actively recruiting players for their teams.
